My name is Ramon Smit. I am a virtual assistant (VA) providing business support across a variety of industries.
In a previous role, I was asked to research a suitable new Customer Relationship Management system (CRM) for the company. The existing CRM was no longer fit for purpose and its subscription was expiring in 3 months’ time.
Within a couple of weeks, I assessed several systems: what they had to offer; their ease of set-up and use; their initial and ongoing costs. I shortlisted two systems and requested online demonstrations for the owners of the business. Together, we reviewed both systems and made our decision. An agreement was signed with the new provider, and I got in touch with the old provider to end the subscription.
Their acknowledgement email delivered unexpected news: the company didn’t have another month to manage the change – the old license was due to expire in just three days!
I was able to transfer all the data from the old system to the new systems within the three days. I also created a workaround for the business to keep track of sales opportunities and contact information while I worked with the new provider to finalise the setup in the new system.
A situation which could have been disruptive and costly for the business was avoided. And a much improved system was installed.
